The jury is still out in  Gosport baby death trial

JURORS are today heading into a fourth day of deliberation in the trial of a mum and her ex-lover accused of causing the death of a baby.

The seven men and five women were unable to reach a unanimous decision at Winchester Crown Court after a further six hours of debate.

Roxanne Davis, 31, of Lee Road, Gosport, and her ex-partner Samuel Davies, 24, of Mayfield Road, Southampton, are accused of allowing or causing the death of Stanley Davis.

The tiny tot died of a fatal skull fracture and brain haemorrhage aged just 24 days on March 28 last year.

He also sustained 32 fractures to his ribs and nine fractures to his arms and legs during three separate occasions '“ many of which were brutal refractures.

Davis and Davies deny the charge.

The case has now been going on for more than a month.

As previously reported, pathologists claimed Stanley's fatal head injury could only have been caused by '˜serious blunt trauma', with experts  ruling out a drop from a chair or from waist height. 

The deliberations will resume at 10am today.
