A GESTURE of goodwill has ensured that criminals have not won in the fight to help our servicemen and women.

Last month crooks stole a Poppy Appeal charity tin at St George’s Church in Waterlooville.

A man from Curdridge, writing anonymously, has sent a donation of £75 for the Royal British Legion and £25 to the church.

Father Mike Sheffield said: ‘I think it’s a wonderful gesture.

‘It’s fantastic he should do something like that out of the blue.

‘People felt very upset and hurt that the box was stolen.’
