AN armed robber who threatened betting shop workers at knifepoint is being hunted by police.

Staff were closing up at Ladbrokes in Copnor Road, Copnor, Portsmouth, when the robber struck.

He got into the back of the shop via an alleyway in nearby Domum Road and threatened the two workers – a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s – with a knife.

He then fled with cash via the back door at about 9.25pm on Wednesday.

Police will not reveal the amount of money stolen for ‘security reasons’.

The two members of staff were unhurt.

Detective Constable Steve Bourne said: ‘We are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the area of Copnor Road and Domum Road around the time of the incident.

‘It is believed the offender may have left the area in a dark coloured car.’

The robber is white, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 10in/6ft tall and of a slim build. He wore dark clothing.
