Officers have spent the last few weeks searching for the weapon used in the murder, in the hope it could help their investigation.

The tweet said: '˜Afternoon, we've all been on the water today, well sort of, in what has to be one of the most filthy, unpleasant searches we've undertaken. It's a good job we can't tweet smells! All for the ultimate cause though #OpRefund #OneTeam.'

Care worker Stephen Nicholson, 24, was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

He was recently jailed for 14 months over his refusal to hand over the password to his Facebook account.

Nicholson remains on bail for his arrest on suspicion of murder and sexual activity with a child. A charging decision is anticipated on October 27.
