It comes after elderly tenants at Harrison House in Stamshaw Road were left ‘heartbroken’ when they discovered the food for their Christmas dinner had been stolen on Monday.

Police have said the goods, worth between £400 and £600, were stolen between 5pm on Sunday and 3.30pm on Monday.

Residents at the home were set to eat the food at a special dinner next week, which they said they had been planning all year.

Officers had previously arrested a 25-year-old man from Paulsgrove, but he has been released under investigation.
