Man, 50, is stabbed in face in late night Southsea attack

A 50-year-old man needed stitches after being stabbed in the face in a late-night attack.

The victim, from Southsea, was walking with his bike in Fawcett Road, Southsea, near the Fawcett Inn, when he was approached by two men.

One of the men asked him for the time.

The taller of the two men is then reported to have brandished a knife and said ‘give me the watch’.

When the victim refused he was attacked at about 1.45am yesterday.

He later received stitches at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for injuries to his face.

The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: ‘In the early hours of yesterday a 50-year-old man reported he had been stabbed in the face.

‘An injury was caused to his face with what is believed to be a knife.’
