Man, 63, is tagged after raid at home's '˜cannabis factory'

Police raided Alan Ferguson’s home in Alliance Close, Gosport, on November 24 last year.

At the time Hampshire police said they found 21 plants.

Now Ferguson has admitted producing the class B drug and dishonestly diverting electricity worth £849.92.

Fareham magistrates imposed a three-month curfew with a community order with 25 days or rehabilitation activities.

He must pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.

The drugs will be forfeited and destroyed.

Ferguson also admitted breaching two conditional discharges handed to him for previously failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements. No action was taken on the breaches.

Speaking at the time of the raid, Detective Sergeant Howard Broadribb said: ‘These warrants were carried out after concerns were raised by members of the local community.

‘The seizure of cannabis plants from a suspected factory sends a clear message that the supply of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in Gosport.’
