A SERIAL thief who fled a petrol station without paying three times has been told to pay compensation.

David Harding, from Meadowsweet Way, Portsmouth, pleaded guilty to committing the offences at the Shell petrol station in London Road, North End, Portsmouth.

The 26-year-old fled without paying for £30 of fuel on August 5.

He stole £30 of diesel on July 23 and £31 of diesel on July 9.

Harding was fined £350 by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was ordered to pay £91 in compensation to the fuel station. Harding must also pay £85 costs and £15 to crime victims.
