A MAN who assaulted a police officer has been told to do unpaid work.

Mark Caisley admitted assaulting PC Anthony Godfrey in Gosport on March 18.

The 27-year-old, of Oakthorn Close, Gosport, also pleaded guilty to being in possession of class B drug cannabis in Fareham on the same day.

Caisley was ordered to do £120 hours of unpaid work in the next year by Fareham magistrates. He must pay £50 compensation to PC Godfrey.

An order was made for the drug to be destroyed.
