WINE thief Steven Walsh has been ordered to pay compensation.

Walsh, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to stealing six bottles of Gallio rose wine worth £32.94 from the Grande Wines store in Highland Road, Southsea, on August 29.

The 39-year-old was given a six-month conditional discharge by Portsmouth magistrates.

Walsh was also ordered to pay £32.94 in compensation to the store.

And he must pay £20 in court costs.
