A MAN charged with causing the death of a teenager has appeared in court.

Neil Howard, 39, of Kensington Road, Copnor, Portsmouth, appeared at Southampton Crown Court.

He is charged causing the death of 19-year-old Nick Brisland by careless driving.

Mr Brisland died on April 24 in Spring Road, Southampton. Medics rushed to the scene but were unable to save him.

Howard confirmed his not guilty plea in court and was released on bail.

He is due to appear again on January 7 and then for a trial on April 18.
