Man arrested after racegoer is punched to ground

A MAN from Portsmouth was arrested after a fight at a famous racecourse.

Police were called to Goodwood Racecourse, near Chichester, after a 35-year-old man from Surrey was punched to the ground in the Lennox Stand. He was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester with a serious head injury and a broken ankle.

A 25-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail until October 3.

Police believe there may have been many witnesses to the incident at 5.30pm last Friday. Call 101.
