Man arrested in arson probe after children escape Gosport fire
A MAN was arrested on suspicion of arson after two children escaped a house fire.
The six-year-old girl and nine-year-old girl were not hurt after fleeing the house in Turner Avenue, Gosport.
Crews tackled a small fire on the staircase after being called out at about 8.40pm on Friday.
Firefighters searched the house for the children, but later discovered they were with neighbours. A 41-year-old man, from Gosport, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
