Man arrested following incident with armed officers in Fratton

A MAN has been arrested following an incident in Fratton.

The 20-year-old was detained by police after officers were called to Kingston Road at 11.35am today.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said a woman in her 20s sustained minor injuries.

She also said because of the nature of the incident specialist resources were deployed.

The spokeswoman added: ‘This is being treated as an isolated incident.

‘We would like to thank members of the public for their patience as we appreciate this caused some disruption in a busy area of the city.’

Traffic along Kingston Road was diverted via Kingston Crescent and Mile End at around 1.20pm.

Unconfirmed images showed armed police and sniffer dogs at the scene.
