Man arrested for attempted murder after Portsmouth incident released

Police have released the 21-year-old, from London, who was arrested over the weekend.

It comes after a 20-year-old man, from Birmingham, was discovered with serious injuries in Middle Street, shortly before midnight on Saturday.

The victim remains in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable, police said.

Detective Inspector David West said: ‘Officers are continuing with the investigation and are trying to establish exactly what happened.

‘If you have any information about what happened, or if you saw anything suspicious in the area, we’d like to hear from you.’
