A MAN has been given a suspended jail term after admitting assaulting a woman twice.

Scott Hummerstone, of Bury Road, Gosport, assaulted the same woman on October 4 and 5 last year.

The 34-year-old denied the two charges but was found guilty at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was given a 13-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months for each offence.

Magistrates also ordered he complete eight sessions of an alcohol programme and 32 sessions of a building better relationships programme.

Hummerstone was also given a 24-month supervision order.

A restraining order now bans him from contacting the woman or going to two named roads in Fareham for two years.

He was told to pay £500 in compensation, an £80 victim surcharge, and £420 costs.
