Officers are investigating after the victim was found in Station Road early yesterday morning with a stab wound.

It happened near West Town Inn and residents said yesterday that they were shocked.

Jay Anthony Shepherd, 48, of Ramsey Road, Hayling Island, has been charged with attempted murder and is due to appear before magistrates today.

The injured man, a 47-year-old from Havant, remains at Southampton General Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
