A man has been charged following an attack on a woman at Fareham Creek.

The 38-year-old woman was walking along a footpath behind Watersmeet, Fareham Creek, last Wednesday when she was grabbed by a man from behind.

A struggle ensued and the woman fell into a bush. She managed to kick out at the man, which caused him to run off.

Police have charged Robert Rouse, 23, of Wickham Road, Fareham, with committing an offence with the intention of committing a sexual offence.

He was also charged with possession of a bladed article.

Mr Rouse appeared at South East Hampshire Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Fareham Magistrates Court on Monday, January 7.
