Leigh Park murder: Police name man accused of killing George Allison in fatal stabbing

POLICE investigating the death of a Leigh Park man have charged a man with his murder.

George Allison, 21, from Riders Lane, in Leigh Park, died during an incident in Tichborne Grove, Leigh Park, at 11pm on Saturday.

A 27-year-old woman from Southsea suffered serious injuries during the same incident.

Now Kevin Batchelor, 25, of East Hill, Camborne, Cornwall, has been charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent after reports of a disturbance at the property.

He will appear before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today.

A 33-year-old woman from Havant who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been questioned by officers and released under investigation.

A 31-year-old man from Hayling Island arrested on suspicion of murder, and assisting an offender has been questioned by officers.

He will have no further action taken against him regarding murder. He remains under investigation for assisting an offender.

The stabbing sparked shock in the community.
