A MAN has been cleared over a Halloween party fight that left another man with a fractured cheek bone.

Jake Morgan was accused of kicking and stamping on Oliver Watts in a fight in Lawson Road, Southsea.

The 21-year-old admitted punching Mr Watts but said he hit him in self-defence and denied kicking him.

The altercation between the two men was the result of a row, some months before, between two of their friends at an 18th birthday party.

When trouble sparked between their friends again Mr Morgan and Mr Watts both got involved.

Mr Watts was left needing a metal plate inserted into his cheek after the bone was fractured in a number of places.

He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham on October 31, 2009, suffering a cut lip and bruising as well as the injury to his cheek.

Mr Morgan, of Newbolt Road, Paulsgrove, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The jury at Portsmouth Crown Court found him not guilty.
