A MAN has denied in court a charge of harbouring a murder suspect.

Robert Cahill is charged with assisting an offender, following the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old father at a house party in Leigh Park last year.

Winchester Crown Court heard how Cahill, 24, of Broadmere Avenue, Havant, bought Sean Bailey food and clothes to help him avoid arrest.

Bailey was jailed for life in December for murdering Simon Warton, eight months earlier in April. Both had been at a house party in Dove Close, Leigh Park.

Mr Warton had been found lying on the ground outside the property.

The crime sparked a man hunt for Bailey, who was found by police at Cahill’s in Southampton House.

Cahill denies the charge, saying the discovery was not linked to the murder and the subsequent search for Bailey.

The trial continues.
