Man fails in attempt to rob a petrol station

A MAN wearing a balaclava and carrying a blue carrier bag tried to rob an Esso petrol station in Locks Heath.

He demanded money from a female assistant in the Bridge Road shop before hitting the monitor of the cash till in the attempt, which happened at 3.30am on Wednesday morning.

The man then ran off empty-handed towards Station Road.

Inspector James Stewart said: ‘This was clearly a traumatic incident for the member of staff involved and we hope that anyone who may have seen something that night or who has information about the person who did this will come forward and speak to us.’

The man was about 6ft 4ins tall and had a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing.
