A MAN was left with a fractured eye socket and cracked teeth after being assaulted outside a club.

Police are appealing for information after the 23-year-old was attacked at Club 8 in Guildhall Walk.

The victim was knocked to the floor in the assault and left with serious injuries including a suspected fractured eye socket.

PC Sarah Pope is the investigating officer.

She said: ‘We would like to speak with anyone in Club 8 who witnessed the assault next to the dance floor towards the rear of the ground floor.

‘There were three people affected by this particularly violent assault, the first of whom has a suspected fractured eye socket after being punched repeatedly.

‘We are appealing for anyone who can describe an initial assault, which would have knocked the 23-year-old man to the floor prior to anyone else becoming involved.’

It happened at around 1.30am on July 6.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

He was questioned and later bailed until August 8, pending further enquiries.

Anyone who saw the incident or has information should call PC Pope at Fratton police station on 101.
