LORRY driver Roland Akulis was caught driving while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Volvo HGV in Wharf Road, Portsmouth, after drinking too much on July 2.

A test revealed his breath contained 72 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres.

The legal limit is 35mg.

Akulis, of no fixed address, was fined £180 and told to pay £15 to a crime victims’ fund by magistrates sitting in Portsmouth.

He was banned from driving for 22 months and told to stay in court until the session ended.
