MUGGERS targeted a man for a bottle of red wine as he walked along a street.

The robber bumped into the 25-year-old victim at the junction of Jellicoe Avenue and Privett Road, in Gosport.

He demanded the man hand over the bottle of red wine he was carrying and then punched the victim on the nose.

The attacker, who was thought to have been carrying an empty pint glass, then fled with the wine – worth £5 – at about 10.20pm on Sunday.

Detective Constable Sandi Peet said: ‘We would like to hear from anyone that witnessed this robbery, particularly a man on a bicycle that stopped to ask if the victim was OK before cycling off into Woodward Close.’

The suspect was white, in his early 20s, of athletic build, and had short spiky blond hair which was styled with gel. He was clean shaven, had a local accent and was wearing a yellow T-shirt with a square logo on the front with a black outline.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Gosport CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
