A MAN who tried to steal from a charity shop has been jailed.

Philip Fried pleaded guilty to attempted burglary at the Sue Ryder shop in North Street, Havant, on July 6.

The 31-year-old, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to three months in prison by Fareham magistrates.

Fried had also been charged with one count of stealing £209.57 cash from the Three Cooks bakers in West Street, Havant, and one count of burglary with intent to steal at Superdrug, also in West Street, between July 4 and 7 last year.

He denied both charges and they were dropped as no evidence was offered.
