A MAN was left with bruising to his head and around his eye after an unprovoked attack in a pub.

The 26-year-old suffered the injuries while he was inside The Lanyard pub, in London Road, North End, Portsmouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide information about the incident, which occurred at around 12.50am on Saturday, December 31.

Details have only just been revealed by police.

A man who may have been involved in the scuffle is described as white and aged in his late 30s or early 40s.

He was 6ft tall and had a shaved head.

He wore white jacket, white trousers and a light-coloured shirt.

Investigating officer PC David Tester said: ‘We’re looking for anyone who can identify the man concerned as he may have been involved in the scuffle inside the pub that led to the assault.’
