POLICE are hunting a man after a woman was threatened in Southsea.

The 25-year-old woman was walking with her baby in Victoria Road North, opposite the Jami Mosque, at 12.45pm on Tuesday, July 16 when she was confronted by a man.

She told police he asked her: ‘What are you staring at?’ before removing, what the woman believed to be, a musical instrument from a black case. The man then waved the instrument in front of her and threatened to kill her with it.

The man walked away threatening that he would see the woman later.

He is described as white, between 30-35 years of age with a muscular stocky build. He was around 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10ins tall and had short black or dark brown hair which was a bit spiky at the front.

When he threatened the woman he was carrying a black case which could have contained a musical instrument.

PC Amanda Smith said: ‘The woman was very tearful and upset following the incident and feared for her personal safety. There were people in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone who may have seen what happened is asked to contact us.’

Anyone with information should contact PC Smith at Southsea police station on 101. Alternatively, please call the anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
