POLICE are hunting attackers who beat a man so severely he spent the night in hospital.

Two men approached the 33-year-old victim as he walked along Milton Road, Portsmouth.

One grabbed his arm and demanded money forcing the victim to hand over £30. The victim was then punched and kicked several times.

When he was on the ground his head was also repeatedly kicked.

He suffered facial injuries, including a broken nose, and spent the night under observation at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Police now want help catching the thugs who struck between 5pm and 6.30pm last Friday.

PC Colin Kirby said: ‘This was an unprovoked attack which occurred after the victim had handed over his money.

‘He was left with a broken nose and significant bruising to his face and required treatment overnight in hospital.

‘This happened during a busy part of the day so it’s likely someone saw or heard something. I’d urge anyone with any information about this incident to contact police immediately.

The offenders were white, aged 20 to 25 and about 5ft 8in. One had shoulder-length curly brown hair and both were dressed in dark clothing.
