A MAN was left with a broken jaw after being attacked as he walked home.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted after a night out in Petersfield.

The attack occurred between 1am and 1.50am on Saturday in Station Road, opposite the White Rose Volkswagen garage.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was assaulted from behind by two unknown men, resulting in a fractured jaw.

The suspects are described as white men in their 20s. They were 6ft to 6ft 4in tall, slim to average build and were wearing dark hoodies.

Detective Constable Tony Flannagan, from Alton CID, said: ‘This was a nasty attack which resulted in the victim requiring surgery for his injuries.

‘I would like to hear from anyone who was out and about in Petersfield town centre in the early hours of Saturday, June 1 and may have witnessed this incident.

‘I’d particularly like to speak to a man who was seen walking in the same area shortly before the assault as he may have some relevant information.’

Anyone with information should call Alton CID on 101.
