A MAN suffered a cut to his stomach after would-be robbers threatened to stab him.

The 24-year-old victim was walking through College Park, in Copnor Road, Copnor, when two men approached him, demanded his phone and threatened to stab him.

He refused to hand over the phone and a fight broke out, police said.

The victim suffered a minor cut to his stomach and swelling to his face. He was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

A police spokeswoman said victim reported being slashed by a ‘sharp instrument’ but it is not known what it was.

The attackers fled the scene empty handed.

Now Hampshire police is investigating the attempted robbery and assault.
