A PORTSMOUTH man is to stand trial for allegedly making a terrorists’ handbook using information from an al-Qaeda training manual.

Terence Brown, 47, of Whitworth Road, Copnor, faces seven counts of collecting information that could have been used to prepare or commit acts of terrorism.

He is also charged with two charges of dissemination of a terrorist publication and another count of transferring criminal property.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2002 and 2008.

The jury of six men and six women was sworn in today.

The prosecution is due to open its case tomorrow.

The trial for the charges under the Terrorism Act, which is expected to last three weeks, is being heard at Winchester Crown Court.
