A MAN who stole bacon, cheese and a power drill has been given a conditional discharge.

Brendon Barrett of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court to theft of the food worth £28.30 from a BP store in Lee-on-the-Solent. The 36-year-old admitted a separate charge of stealing the drill worth £145 from a B&Q store.

Recorder Robert Linford gave him a one-year conditional discharge. If Barrett offends again in that time he will be punished for these offences.
