A MAN wanted on suspicion of assault continues to be hunted by police.

Officers are today still seeking a man who allegedly assaulted a woman in Waterlooville yesterday.

The incident was reported to Hampshire Constabulary at around 12.05pm.

Officers then spent the afternoon combing the Portsdown Hill Road area in an attempt to track the man down.

The Sussex police helicopter was used in addition to police officers on the ground to search the surrounding area.

The man suspected of carrying out the assault is believed to be known to the police.

The victim received injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are providing support for her.
