AN ATTACKER who punched a woman in the face in front of her young daughter is wanted by police.

The 21-year-old victim was walking along the cut-through from Beach Road to West Town Park in Hayling Island with her young daughter shortly after 9.15am on May 14 when a man grabbed her by the arm.

When she pulled away he punched her in the face before fleeing.

Nothing was taken during the unprovoked assault and the victim was left with a cut on her cheek.

The attacker is white, 5ft 8in tall and of a medium to stocky build.

He wore a dark blue tracksuit with the hood up and covering his face, and dirty white trainers.

Police are keen to speak to a woman who was out walking her dog at the time and who spoke to the victim following the assault.
