Drug dealer accused of shooting rival tells jury: ‘Violence is not my way’

DETECTIVES are hunting a man who attempted to sexually assault a 20-year-old woman in the early hours of this morning.

The victim had been walking home from the Clarence Tavern pub, in Mumby Road, Gosport, at 1.15am, when she was approached by a man.

Police say he attempted to sexually assault her at the junction of Weevil Lane, but the woman managed to struggle free.

Detectives are still speaking to the victim to get more details.

Detective Inspector Andy Symes said: ‘It was a very distressing incident for this young woman, who was left extremely shaken.

‘We are very keen to find this man as quickly, and asking anyone who may have been leaving a pub or club in the area, and taxi drivers who were driving through this area, to please have a good think back – did you see this man?

‘Do you think you might have witnessed this incident?

‘If so, please call us now and help us find him.’

The offender is described as white, with tanned skin, around 5ft 7ins tall, of slim and athletic build, short grade one cut hair, aged around 30 and was wearing jeans and a shirt.

The area is cordoned off while crime scene investigators carry out their work.
