Masked burglars attack woman in early morning raid

POLICE are hunting three masked men who attacked a 50-year-old woman during a burglary today.

The assault took place just after 3am, at a home in Pilgrim’s Way, Hillhead.

The masked men broke into the property and assaulted the victim before stealing a safe, mobile phone and a Ford Ka car – which was later found abandoned near Hurst Close.

The woman was treated for minor injuries at hospital, police said.

Detective Sergeant Darren Thomas, added: ‘We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and we do not believe there is any risk to the wider community.

‘We’re carrying out house to house enquiries in the local area and we have increased patrols to provide reassurance to residents.

‘We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen any people or vehicles in the area around the time of the incident to contact Eastern CID.’
