The son of Mike Hancock has been charged following an assault on a journalist outside the MP’s home today.
Dean Hancock, 37, of Rockingham Way, Portchester, is accused of carrying out an assault and causing actual bodily harm.
It comes after police officers were called to Rockingham Way, Portchester, at 9.21am after reports of an altercation involving members of the media outside the house.
A reporter received an injury to his nose.
It comes on the day after Mike Hancock was suspended from the Liberal Democrat party after a copy of a report into his conduct was obtained at the party’s London headquarters.
Mr Hancock strongly denies any impropriety.
Mr Hancock’s son has been bailed until February 12, when he is due to appear at Fareham Magistrates Court.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We can confirm 37-year-old Dean Hancock from Rockingham Way, Fareham, Hampshire was charged tonight with assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH).’
