Minnie-Mo Hunt, 25, of High Street, Cosham and her niece Daisy Hunt, 22, of Berkshire Close, Landport, were set to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court following a viral video showing 20-year-old Rebecca Grant being assaulted on June 17 at about 8.30pm.

But only the former appeared in the dock today.

On a previous court appearance it was revealed the victim was being assessed for a ‘bleed on the brain’ and was still ‘very ill’ following the attack.

Prosecutor Giles Fletcher said last month: ‘There was an assault on a female on Southsea Common recorded on mobile phone footage, where you can clearly see kicking and stamping on the unconscious female.’

Today in court the senior Hunt, wearing a light grey jumper and black and white trousers, pleaded not guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm of Ms Grant and a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on another person.

The pair had been remanded in prison on a previous hearing but the elder Hunt was granted bail by judge David Melville QC following a bail application.

The younger Hunt will now appear via video-link on Wednesday.

She faces the same charges as her aunt as well as assault by beating on another person.

A trial date was set for November 23.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman previously said of the case: ‘We would like to thank members of the public for their support in this investigation but also ask the public not to speculate about those involved or share footage on social media as this remains a live investigation.

‘Anyone with information is asked to contact police.’

Officers previously appealed for people to help identify three men and released images of the three ‘key witnesses’.
