Motorcyclist sped through closing level crossing in Portsmouth and knocked over 70-year-old man
A pensioner was taken to hospital after being hit by a motorbike at a Portsmouth level crossing.
It happened in Portsmouth Road, Cosham, when a dark-coloured motorbike accelerated through the red barrier lights that were on because the crossing was lowering, police said.
The bike hit a pedestrian and knocked him over. It happened at about 8.25pm on Wednesday.
A 70-year-old man suffered minor injuries – including a broken ankle and foot – and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
A police spokesman said officers would like to speak to anyone who may have information about the incident – especially those who may have seen a dark motorbike in Cosham High Street or Portsmouth Road of the surrounding area at the time. They’ve also asked any drivers who were in Cosham at that time to check their dash cam.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting 44210289209.
