A MOTORIST who drove off without paying for petrol has been told to pay compensation.

Surot Miah, 57, of Murefield Road, Landport, Portsmouth, filled his car up with £52 worth of petrol at the Portsbridge Filling Station in Portsmouth Road, Cosham, Portsmouth.

He pleaded guilty to making off without payment at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £52 in compensation and £85 in costs.
