A COMPLAINT has been made to police by the son of MP Mike Hancock, Dean, that he was assaulted by a press photographer after his court appearance.

Dean Hancock, 37, has alleged that a photographer grabbed him by the arm outside Fareham Magistrates’ Court.

A small group of photographers had gathered outside the court that day as Hancock pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The alleged incident, for which Hancock was appearing in court, involved Steve Reigate of the Daily Express and happened outside the Hancocks’ home in Rockingham Way, Portchester, on January 23.

The photographers were outside the family home as Mike Hancock was suspended from the Lib Dems after allegations he sexually assaulted a constituent, which he strenuously denies.

A trial will be held at Fareham Magistrates’ Court on April 29 for that charge.

A police spokesman confirmed they are investigating the new alleged assault, which happened after Hancock’s court appearance between 3.30pm and 3.40pm on February 12.
