A MUM has admitted stealing from a store and assaulting two members of staff.

Ann Cortopassi took £350 worth of goods from Asda in Havant to get money for drugs, Portsmouth Crown Court heard.

When two members of staff confronted the 34-year-old she assaulted them.

Cortopassi, of Chalton Crescent, Leigh Park, has pleaded guilty to theft and two charges of assault.

Her sentencing has now been adjourned until next month to give the probation service time to see if Cortopassi could be given drug rehabilitation rather than go to prison.

Judge Graham White said: ‘I am adjourning sentence in your case so that an assessment can be completed as to your suitability for drug rehabilitation.

‘In doing that I am not giving any guarantee to what the sentence will be at the end of the day.’
