He was spotted being wheeled into the hospital by a medic and still handcuffed to a prison officer after being found slumped in his cell, according to the Scottish Sun.

Tobin is serving life sentences for the murders of 15-year old Vicky Hamilton from Falkirk in 1991. Her body was found in 2007 buried in the garden of a house in Margate and 23-year old Angelika Kluk, a Polish student, whom he buried under the floor of St Patrick’s RC Church in Glasgow in 2006.

He was convicted of those murders in in 2008, 15 years after he had been jailed for raping and indecently assaulting two teenage girls at his home in Billy Lawn Avenue, Leigh Park.

A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service said: “We can confirm that a 69-year-old prisoner from HMP Edinburgh was taken to hospital yesterday.”
