A NEWSAGENTS in Portchester was broken into overnight.

Martins, on West Street, will be closed today following the break-in while police investigate the crime.

Cigarettes were stolen from the shop in the early hours of this morning.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 5.15am this morning to a break-in which happened at 2.45am.

‘Two men wearing dark clothing stole cigarettes after entering the property through a smashed window pane near the front entrance.

‘They were seen heading towards the library at the end of the precinct.’

The value of cigarettes stolen is unknown.
