POLICE are appealing for information after an elderly woman was robbed.

The victim, who is in her 80s, had been shopping at the Saturday market in Chichester on the morning of July 30 and believes she was walking between St John’s Street and the Tesco in South Street when she was approached by a woman.

The woman shouted at her and then pushed her to the ground, stealing £5 before running off towards St John’s Street.

Detective Constable Andrea Watts of West Sussex CID said: ‘This was a terrifying incident for the victim, however she did not report it to police until some days later when she told a nurse what had happened.’

The offender is described as white, approximately 5ft 4in, aged between 40 and early 50s, of medium build with short to mid-length mousey hair with a local accent.
