One person taken to hospital after car and van crash in Fratton

PARAMEDICS have taken a woman to hospital following a head-on collision between a car and a van today.

The crash took place in Walmer Road, Fratton, shortly before 2pm this afternoon.

A van and a car crashed, leaving the woman – who was a passenger in the car – with injuries to her leg.

Two fire crews from Southsea were the first emergency services to arrive at the scene and providing medical care for the woman.

Crews were soon joined by paramedics, who took the woman to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, a man, and the van driver – also a male – did not need to got to hospital.

A spokesman for the fire service added that nobody was trapped in either of the vehicles.

Police are now keen to speak to witnesses to the collision. Those who have any information about the incident can call 101.
