DRINK-driver Darren Markey has been banned from the roads.

Markey pleaded guilty to driving a Rover 416 on the M27 near Fareham after drinking too much on May 31.

A test revealed the 31-year-old’s blood contained 105 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres.

The legal limit is 80mg. Markey also admitted driving the car with no insurance on the same day.

He was fined £230 by Fareham magistrates and banned from driving for a year. The ban could be reduced by three months on the condition he completes a government driving course by February 20 next year.

Markey, of Hunts Pond Road, Park Gate, was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and £15 into a fund for victims of crime.
