POLICE have confirmed that the 87-year-old woman whose Havant home was burgled was attacked by the raider, who left her with a fractured eye socket,

Police have this evening released a description of a man they are hunting following yesterday’s attack.

The woman, aged in her 80s, was assaulted in her home in Havant, when a man forced his way into the home.

She suffered cuts, bruising and a fractured eye socket during the attack.

The man is described as white, aged between 30 and 40 years, tall and of sturdy build and was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Norris said: ‘Please contact us if you were in the area at the time and heard or saw anything suspicious.

‘We are particularly interested in anyone fitting this description, and who returned home during the early hours of Friday morning.

‘We’d encourage people to be extra vigilant and to report anything suspicious to police immediately.’
