FOUR men have been arrested after a man’s arm was broken in a mass brawl.

Three men and two women, all aged between 23 and 28, were set upon by a gang of seven men in Park Road, Portsmouth, after a night out.

All five friends were hurt, with one man suffering a broken arm. Another man’s cheekbone was fractured in three places and the women suffered bruising in the fight.

Detective Constable Verity Lamb said: ‘I am appealing for witnesses to this violent and unprovoked attack which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Park Road, Portsmouth, to come forward.

‘Were you in the area at that time? Did you witness this incident? There were at least ten people involved in the incident with a number of people running from the scene. Did you witness people fleeing from the scene? Do you know who any of them are? Can you provide police with any assistance?

‘I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and help with our inquiry.’

Four men, two aged 18, one aged 19 and one aged 20, all from the Isle of Wight, were arrested and later bailed pending further inquiries following the fight, which happened at about 1.20am on Sunday.

Anyone with information should call Det Con Lamb at Fratton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
